How to evaluate a medical-device development provider

Look beyond capability claims to relevant experience, evidence, controls, ownership, and commercial fit.

Match evidence to your actual need

A recognizable client list or certification is not enough. Ask for sanitized evidence that connects the provider’s team and process to a similar device, stage, standard, and deliverable.

  • Named delivery team and relevant experience
  • Examples of controlled, reviewable deliverables
  • Applicable certification scope and current status
  • Clear ownership of decisions, records, and changes
  • Escalation, availability, and commercial assumptions

Verify the boundary

Document what the provider will own, support, review, or exclude. For multi-provider programs, define interface ownership before work begins.
